After harvesting, it is necessary to prepare the site for wintering in order not to encounter pests and diseases in the spring. The health of trees and the number of fruits in the new season depend on properly organized support.

Garden processing in the fall includes many measures: digging up the soil, disinsection of trunks, and applying nutrient fertilizers. Chemical preparations are actively used - substances will no longer get into the fruits, they will not harm a person.

Dates for the start of autumn gardening

In late September and early October, gardeners begin preparatory work. The average daily temperature decreases, the first frosts appear at night. Freezing temperatures encourage insects to seek shelter in the bark of trees and shrubs to survive the winter months.

Currently, the autumn treatment of the garden from diseases and pests is being carried out, preventing the deposition of eggs inside the plants, therefore reducing the spring population of insects. In different regions of Ukraine, the terms may differ: in the north, colds come earlier, in the southern regions - later. However, in the fall, it is advisable to complete the processing of the garden and trees by the first cold weather, and they should be started immediately after November.

Fallen leaves create a favorable environment for the development of bacteria, fungi, and some types of pests that hide between withered foliage, penetrate the soil and get out with warming.

To prevent an increase in infections in the soil, eradicating the garden in the fall helps. Gardeners remove the leaves until they turn yellow and fall off, apply mineral salts and hypertonic solutions to the surface. Substances damage the cells and body of pests, continuing the health of plants.

Diseases and insects that harm trees

Garden plants often encounter diseases that gradually affect the trunk, branches and fruits, making the tree completely unsuitable for growing crops. Microscopic organisms are hard to notice, farmers have to deal with the consequences or organize preventive measures.

Chemical treatment of the garden in the fall helps prevent:

  1. Viral defeat. Viruses cause a snowstorm (overgrowth of tree branches), the appearance of spots on fruits, mosaic ringing, dwarfism, infectious chlorosis, Steklenberg virosis, smallpox of stone fruit crops, terry shrubs.
  2. Bacterial diseases. Bacteria cause necrosis of areas and burn wood.
  3. Fungi. Fungal organisms cause rot, scab, rust, late blight, powdery mildew and cocomycosis.
  4. Viruses and fungi can be removed with special preparations, but modern remedies cannot cope with bacterial damage. Gardeners are left to cut off the infected part, burn it and the surrounding vegetation, which could come into contact with bacteria.

Garden processing in the fall and spraying carried out before the first frost helps to get rid of leaf insects:

  • wasps;
  • cocoonworm;
  • bears;
  • scoop butterflies;
  • blondes.

Nutrient juice, which is responsible for the growth of the fruit crop and saturates the fruit with useful substances, is consumed by spider mites, fleas, aphids, suckers and whiteflies.

A variety of pests remain in the crown, move to the upper layers of the soil, hide in garden tops and garbage grass. Timely cleaning of the garden plot will save you from glasses, root nematodes, bulbous flies, leaflets, gall midges, raspberry beetles, California scale insects and proboscis. The main thing is to choose the right chemicals and fungicides.

Features of processing the garden in the fall from diseases

In the autumn months, the struggle of farmers for the future harvest begins. They remove dried and damaged branches, eradicate young and wild shoots that thicken the tree crown.

The activities are aimed at returning a healthy look to horticultural crops and maximum pest control:

  1. The arrangement of feeders attracts winter birds. Woodpeckers, tits and snow gurus seek out insects and get them out from under the bark.
  2. Powdering peat on barrel circles, winding with non-woven or mesh material creates a buffer layer that protects trunks from rodents. In some situations, branches of Christmas trees and pines are used.
  3. Autumn treatment of the garden with copper sulphate and putty prevents the infection from penetrating inside and leading to the death of plants. It is used for hollows and open cuts.
  4. Whitewashing the lower parts of the trunks prevents cracking of the bark in severe frosts, protects against frostbite and kills pests. The process is carried out after rains, so that moisture washes away the solution.

Removing old bark, skeletal branches, yellowed leaves, plant debris and dried fruits deprives microorganisms of a favorable wintering environment. Gardeners carry out a full cleaning, destroy trapping belts, clean out plant residues from under the soil.
