VITAGRO has signed a memorandum of mutual cooperation with the German investment company Birkap regarding joint investment in biomethane production. The main goal is to initiate a strategic partnership between the companies in this field in Ukraine. The agreements foresee joint investments in the development and management of biomethane production projects and its export to European markets.
Sergiy Savchuk, Chief Investment and Business Development Officer at VITAGRO Group, signed the memorandum, emphasizing the importance of the strategic partnership and ambitious plans of the company for the development of the biomethane industry in Ukraine.
To achieve the ambitious goal of exporting 1 billion cubic meters of biomethane to the EU from Ukraine by 2030 and 5 billion cubic meters by 2050, VITAGRO Group as a strategic partner of Birkap will ensure a stable supply of raw materials for new biomethane projects. The initial production capacity of biomethane will be 43 million cubic meters per year with investments up to 110 million euros.
"The cooperation also involves the development of new projects based on the use of organic waste, modernization of existing biomethane facilities in Ukraine by installing purification systems and ensuring access to pipelines, as well as scaling up existing biogas or biomethane facilities," Mr. Savchuk noted.
The active operation of VITAGRO Group and cooperation with foreign companies are crucial steps in the development of green energy in Ukraine, which will enable significant achievements in biomethane production and contribute to the country's green transformation.
