Sergey Savchuk, the Director of Development and Investments at VITAGRO Group, participated in the nationwide forum "V Business & Legal AGRI FORUM" bringing together leading experts, government representatives, and business stakeholders to discuss crucial aspects of agrosector development and explore the perspectives and challenges facing Ukraine amid wartime conditions.
Sergey joined the forum's
speakers with an important topic: "Agrosector Development in Wartime and Eurointegration: Adaptation vs.
Standstill?" In his address, he emphad the importance of increasing the share of processing industries, citing
examples such as Turkey and the Brazilian agribusiness company Garamuru, which successfully persified its
business and now operates in the global market.
"We have entered the production of biomethane, bioethanol, and deep processing of soy and corn," noted Sergey Savchuk. He added that these initiatives are currently funded internally due to restricted access to capital, coupled with limited biomethane turnover as it is not open for export. The bioethanol production plant plans to process 85 thousand tons of corn annually. While the plant is nearly completed, there is unfortunately no domestic market for bioethanol. Summing up his presentation, Sergey called for the initiation of product processing to transform Ukraine into not only the "breadbasket of Europe" but also a hub for advanced agricultural practices.
Despite the ongoing war and challenges faced by the agrosector, Sergey emphad that the industry continues to operate, evolve, and implement new agricultural technologies to ensure global food security.
