Two harvests per season! Successful experience of VITAGRO agricultural holding

Obtaining two harvests in one season from the same field is now possible. In the fields of VITAGRO agroholding, we are collecting the first harvest of hybrid rye for silage, and on the cleared area, we plan to sow silage corn. The choice of rye crops was not accidental, as the harvest comes in May, when there is no load on the machinery and workers, and it is possible to carry out all the silage processes on time.

For the needs of dairy cattle farming, we used the Magnifico hybrid rye variety from KWS company. From the hybrid rye sowing area, we obtained 16 tons/ha of green mass, which significantly exceeds the yield of other perennial silage grasses. We strictly adhered to the manufacturer's recommendations for growing hybrid rye. The agronomic service closely monitored all growth phases, especially the tillering and "flag leaf" phases, resulting in a good harvest.

Rye is valued by farmers for its unique advantages - high energy from corn silage and high protein content, mainly obtained from other silage crops. However, the greatest value of this product for dairy farms is due to the high digestibility of NDF. On our farms, silage from hybrid rye is mainly used in hot weather to prevent heat stress in animals.
